Have you experienced slow performance with Photoshop CS2? I have a reasonable development machine at home, P4 3.0 ghz, 1gb ram, ATI 9550 256 mb etc, but when I installed CS2 months back it was so sluggish, I switched back to CS.
Today on a whim, I decided to do some searching and see if I could find a solution or workaround. After a few searches, I found a solution where you’d never think to look…. Adobe.com
The slowness of CS2 comes from certain video card’s drivers not properly implementing the 2D API.
Adobe recommends the following solution:
1. Choose Start > Control Panel > Display.
2. Click the Settings tab.
3.Click Advanced.
4. Click the Troubleshoot Tab.
5. Do one of the following:
- To disable hardware acceleration, move the Hardware acceleration slider to None.
- To reduce hardware acceleration, move the Hardware acceleration slider to a setting between None and Full.
(I only moved the harware acceleration back 1 notch on my system and that was enough.)
6. Click Apply and then click OK to accept the new setting and close the dialog box.
7. Restart Windows and Photoshop.
Now I am as speedy as I was with CS or even PS 7.
Google has delisted the BMW Germany website for stuffing their pages full of keywords that are only visible to search engine spiders. When an actual user visits the site, the page is rendered normally thanks to some javascripting…. This is in direct violation of the Google Webmaster Guidelines.
This happens all the time. I have had consultations with clients who had been given proposals by other SEO’s to create pages just for search engines and other blackhat techniques. Sometimes these techniques go un-noticed and work for a while, but eventually, they get found out. It’s good to see Google is trying to clean up its index and make an example of a large company like BMW.
One thing is for sure… I wouldn’t want to be the SEO who worked on this site
Today was my last day at MembersFirst. Spent the day finishing an SEO project and creating about 175 new images / icons for the new User Interface for our product. Worked 10 hours on my last day. No “lame duck” exit for me…
I wish them the best and I am excited to see the final implementation of the new UI.
My last days at MembersFirst are soon approaching. I am busy finishing up the user interface redesign work on our product and transitioning the SEO dept. duties to a colleague of mine.
We ate at Moe’s today for lunch. I had a homewrecker and Sandi had a side of queso….. mmmm.
The coding for the my new directory has been completed. Now it’s time to do the personal trainer section. This should be fairly simple since I’m using the same code, just some pathing changes and setting up a new MySQL DB for it.
The movie follows the life of a weapon trader who starts off small in the 1980’s and becomes a big player in the 90’s. It stars Nicholas Cage, who I usually don’t care for much, but he delivers a convincing portrayal in this flick.

Just testing out my new installation of WordPress!
